St Michael’s Collegiate School are participating in the Athena Sailing program in 2018-19.  The team will be training and racing as the season progresses and developing their sailing skills.

Meet the Collegiate team

Amy Johnstone: My name is Amy and I am in Year 7 at Collegiate, I am turning 13 in late September. I did Tackers 1 last year and started school sailing a while afterwards. My dad did sailing when he was younger and brought a NS14 which we have sailed a couple of times now. I have mainly crewed but done a little bit of helming with on my family boat, so it would be really great to get more confident. I enjoy sailing and am really exited to learn more about it.

Catherine Sayer: I am a Year 12 student, I have only done sailing through school but I really enjoy it. I like to sing, dance and learn new things.

Antonia Brancher: I was born in England. I enjoy playing sport, in particular, rugby, netball, touch football and sailing.

Danica Griggs: Participated in last seasons school sailing roster for Collegiate as a crew member with Grace Hooper as Helm.

Ellie Connor: I am a Year 12 student at Collegiate, and am very much an amateur sailor! While I’ve been sailing for a few years on and off, I’m still not super confident on the water even though I have so much fun. I’m excited to have a go at Athena and hopefully improve my confidence.

Lily Davidson: Sailing has been a massive part of my family, and I have grown up on the water. I am in Year 12 and Sailing Captain this year, and I am so grateful to be taking part in the Collegiate – Athena training program. I love your vision and am very excited to learn new skills in an SB20!

Olive Tapping: I started sailing a year ago, crewing for a friend in a Cadet at Sandy Sailing Club. I have also competed in one season of the Tas Schools Team Racing for Collegiate. I have also completed Tackers 2 in April 2018 at SBSC. I am keen to learn more about sailing and enjoy sailing with other people, rather than on my own.

Jorja Cooper: Currently sailing a laser dinghy. Done lots of cruising on my parents boat up the East Coast of Australia.

Grace Hooper: I have three years crewing in an International Cadet at SBSC. Recently represented Australia at the Int Cadet World Championship in Bodstedt, Germany. Have now got own boat and can’t wait to start helming (helmed one of the Collegiate pacers at the teams racing states).

Sophie Onslow: I am 13 and sail with Collegiate. I go out on my parents boat on weekends and love the water.
